Artistically designed and finely crafted from the highest quality pewter and other rare, beautiful and durable natural materials. Our products are exclusively designed to be unique, functional heirlooms for those who seek to express tradition and style in both family and formal entertaining.

Our collections are inspired by nature and our travels, the places we call home, and our family’s love of nature, nurture, celebration, tradition, and style. We are truly a global family and a global family business. Our corporate offices are located in the foothills outside of Los Angeles, California, yet at any time, our family and business team members are scattered across the globe. We have to make an effort to be together for celebrations and believe that like our discerning customers, we work so hard to come together to create memories, each occasion, whether it is a simple weekday dinner, a child’s birthday party or an elegant nuptial celebration deserves table and serve ware of the highest quality and style.

Each piece is artistically designed and finely handcrafted from the highest quality pewter, American cherry wood, Italian glass and other rare, beautiful and durable natural materials. Our products are exclusively designed to be unique, functional heirlooms for those who seek to express tradition and style in both family and formal entertaining.

Using Pewter as our primary medium allows us to create to our heart’s content. This ancient and noble soft metal not only allows us to form any shape and design we can think of, but it also allows our artisans to carve and polish breathing life into each piece. We invite you to count the suckers on each octopus tentacle; feel the veins running through the oak leaves. Every time you look at or touch a piece, you will discover more little touches, setting Vagabond House apart from other makers of tableware. We have heard they pale in comparison.

NOBLE MATERIALS

SOLID PEWTER
We use solid pewter which is 100% lead-free and is food safe. It will not tarnish. Unlike other metals where the plating will wear in time, our metal is solid and pure.

HAND BLOWN ITALIAN GLASS
Luxurious, hand blown, crystal clear Italian glass crafted to perfection.

AMERICAN CHERRY WOOD
Cherry is a hardwood and each piece has unique color variations and patterns caused by small knots and mineral deposits known as pitch pockets. Cherry wood resists warping and cracking, making it an excellent choice in kitchens and bathrooms.

UNIQUE DESIGNS INSPIRED BY NATURE

Unique and creative designs interpreted into functional tableware is what Vagabond House is known for. Slender asparagus as handles on a tray, silvery leaves and butterflies on a centerpiece, nuanced details adding flair to any table. We believe what was old becomes new again with just a little twist. We are inspired by the corbel of on an old building; the vintage treasure found while exploring “out of the way” antique stores. We look at an object, or even just a small part of it and imagine that inspiration into our creative offerings. Our collections are inspired by nature and our travels, the places we call home, and our family’s love for nature, celebration, tradition, and style. All of us at Vagabond House appreciate fine and wondrous things. Our imaginations soar from our love of antiques gifted by our great-grandparents to the amazement we feel watching a butterfly move through our gardens. So many things are taken for granted; we try to slow down and experience all the remarkable detail this world has to offer.

OUR HISTORY

Vagabond House was founded in June of 1986: using antique silver tableware and transforming it into jewelry and table accents. Many of our long time customers still wear the pendants and rings which Vagabond House created from this repurposed flatware.

The little-known company was purchased by the Haas and Hardy families in 2004 with a focus exclusively on the tableware aspect.

While maintaining the highest quality standards of materials and unique approach to design, the family expanded into pewter production shortly after the purchase.

This wonderful metal allows our American designers to create to their hearts desires. This creativeness partnered with a team of truly gifted carvers, artisans and fabricators allow us to bring to life the many wonderful designs and collections that have grown Vagabond House into the global brand that it is today.
